Hing is one of the spices in Indian Kitchen.
It is known as Hing in Marathi & Hindi , Hingu in Sanskrit , Asafoetida in English & Has Ferula narthex as its Latin name.

Volatile oil , Asaresinotannol
Medicinal Properties & Uses -
1. Due to its Ushna & Tikshna guna , it works as Vajikarana (Aphrodisiac) so it is used in Klebya.
2. It works as Streepushpajanana (stimulates or increases menstrual blood flow) so used in Kashtartava ( Dysmenorrhoea).
3. After Delivery , It is used for Garbhashayashodhana ( cleansing of uterus )
4. Due to its Tikshna guna , it stimulates function of Kidneys so works as Mutrajanana ( stimulates or increases formation of urine) & so it is used in Mutraghata ( syndrome of obstructive urinary pathology).
