Sandal wood is very famous for its fragrance & also for its use in cosmetology.

It is known as Channdan in Marathi , Hindi & Sanskrit. and Indian Sandal wood in English.

Family - Santalaceae

Properties -

Rasa - Tikta , katu

Virya - Sheeta

Vipaka - Katu

Guna - Laghu , Ruksha

Chemical Constituents - santalol

USES -

👉 Due to Laghu & Ruksha guna & Tikta rasa , it works as Shukraghna so it can be used in Shukrameha ( spermatorrhoea).

👉 As it works as Pittashaman , so it is used in shwetapradara ( leucorrhoea) & Raktapradara ( Abnormal Uterine Bleeding).

- Due to Tikta rasa & Sheeta guna , it works as Pittashaman leading to Raktashuddhi so helpful in pradara.( abnormal vaginal discharge).

- In Shwetapradara , it works as jantughna so it works as cleanser for dushta vrana & heals them & then the kapha dushti gets relived .

👉It is used in Mutrakriccha ( difficulty in micturation) & with honey + sugar in Tandulodaka ( rice water).

👉 Vanshalochan & Ela churna (in same quantity) - 2.5 gm with Chandan oil is used in Prameha (diabetes) & Pradar (abnormal vaginal discharge).
