BHALLATAK - USES IN GYNAECOLOGY

It is known as Bibba in Marathi , Bhilava in Hindi , Bhallatak in Sanskrit & Marking Nut in English

Latin Name - Semicarpus anacardium 

Family - Anacardiaceae                        

                                           

Properties -

Rasa - Katu , Kashaya , Madhur 

Virya - Ushna

Vipaka - Madhur

Guna - Laghu , snigdha , tikshna

Chemical Constituents - Bhilwanol,semecarpol

Parts Used - Fruits 

USES -

๐ŸŒฑ Due to Ushna virya & tikshna guna it works as Garbhashayottejak ( stimulates uterine muscles) so used in kashtartava ( dysmenorrhoea)

๐ŸŒฑShukravruddhikara ( stimulates / increases formation of sperms)

๐ŸŒฑVajikara ( Aphrodisiac).

๐ŸŒฑ Aartavvruddhikara / rajavruddhikara ( stimulates / increases formation of menstrual blood) - it is used with bhallatak siddha kshir (milk) or bhallatak oil.

๐ŸŒฑ Mutrasangrahaniya (due to katu- kashay rasa, katu vipaka

Contraindicated in -

❌Pregnant woman

❌Pitta prakruti persons.
