JYOTISHMATI - USES IN GYNAECOLOGY

It is known as Malkangoni in Marathi , Malkangani in Hindi , Jyotishmati in Sanskrit & Staff tree in English.

Latin Name - Celastrus paniculatus

Family - Celastraceae  

                              

Properties -

Rasa - Katu ,Tikta

Virya - Ati-Ushna

Vipaka - Katu

Guna - Tikshna , Snigdha

Prabhav - Medhya 

Chemical Constituents - oleum nigrum

Parts Used - Seeds , oil 

USES -

🌱Vajikaran -

    Due to Ushna guna , it works as Vajikara ( Aphrodisiac).

🌱 Kashtartava ( Dysmenorrhoea) -

-   Due to Ushna guna , it stimulates endometrium and increases the production of aartava ( menstrual blood ) so Jyotishmati oil is used with milk for this.

-    Leaves of jyotishmati are used in Kashtartava.
