KHUS KHUS - USES IN OBGY

Khus khus is a traditional ingredient used in kitchen.

It is known in other languages as - Khus khus in Marathi , Aphim in Hindi ,Ahiphen in Sanskrit ,Opium poppy in English & Papaver Somniferum as its Latin name.

Family - Papaveraceae


Properties -

Rasa - Tikta , Kashay

Virya - Ushna 

Vipaka - Katu 

Guna - Laghu, Ruksha , Sukshma , Vyavayi , Vikasi

Chemical constituents -

Morphin, Nicotine , Papaverin    

Medicinal Properties -

1.Shukrastambhan

2.Vednasthapan ( Analgesic)

3.Vrushya ( Aphrodisiac)

USES -

1.As it is Shukrasthambhan it is used in Shighrapatan (wet dreams). 

2.As it is Vedanasthapan ( analgesic action) - it is used in -

           a) Obs -

            - Garbhapat ( Abortion)

           -  Kashtaprasuti ( Difficult labour)

           -  Prasutivedna ( Labour pains)

           b) Gynaec -

           - Kashtartava (Dysmenorrhoea)

           - Atyartava (Abnormal uterine bleeding)

 3. Vrushya ( Aphrodisiac)
