DEVDARU - USES IN GYNAECOLOGY

It is known as Devdar in Marathi & Hindi , Devdaru in Sanskrit & Himalayan cedar in English.

Latin Name - Cedrus deodara

Family - Pinaceae

Properties -

Rasa - Tikta

Virya - Ushna

Vipaka - Katu

Guna - Laghu, snigdha

Chemical Constituents - Seaquiterpene

Parts Used - Kandasara , oil

USES -

🌱Stanya Shodhan ( removes the impurities of breast milk) 

  -  Due to Tikta & Ushna guna breast milk with kaphadushti gets purified.

🌱Due to Ushna virya , it works as Garbhashay shodhan ( Cleansing action of uterus) so used in puerperal state  for getting rid of  vaginal secretions.

🌱 It is used as Jwaraghna (relieving fever).

🌱 Due to Ushna & Snigdha guna , it also works as Mutrajanana ( stimulates / increases formation of urine) so helps in reliving Mutragata dosha.So used in Mutraghata (retention of Urine).

🌱 It also works as Mutrashodhan due to Ushna virya & Tikta rasa so used in Puyameha.
