FENUGREEK SEEDS - USES IN OBSTETRICS

Fenugreek seeds are popular ingredients in cooking.

These are known as Methi dana in Marathi & Hindi , Methika in Sanskrit & Trigonella fenugraecum / Trigonella foenum as its Latin name.

Family - Leguminosae

                                    

Properties - 

Rasa - Katu

Virya - Ushna

Vipaka - Katu

Guna - Laghu , Snigdha

Medicinal Properties -

1. Stanyajanana ( Galactogogue / Stimulates formation of Breast milk)

2. Aartavshudhi ( removal of dushta Aartav/impure blood after delivery)

USES -

After Delivery , It is Used as -

1. As it works as Stanyajanana , it is used in a woman having deficiency of Breast milk .

2. As it does  aartavshudhi , it is used in sutika ( woman - after delivery ) for preventing Vataprakopa
