it is well known with its other names as - Lasun in Marathi , Lahashun in Hindi , Rason in Sanskrit & has latin name as - Allium Sativum

Rasa - it has all the five rasa's except Lavana
Virya - Ushna
Vipaka - Katu
Guna - Snigdha,Tikshna, Guru, Sara,Picchila
Chemical Composition -
Allyl- propyl sulphide
USES -
1.Due to its Snigdha,picchila & guru guna , it causes Shukravruddhi ( increase in sperm count), so can be used in Shukrajanana ( stimulates or increases formation of sperms) & Shukradaurbalya nashak.
2.Due to its Ushna & Tikshna guna, it works as Aartavajanana ( stimulates / increases menstrual flow), so used in kashtartava ( Dysmenorrhoea).
3.Due to Tikshna & ushna guna, it stimulates function of kidneys leading to its work as Mutral ( increases formation of urine) so used in Mutrakriccha ( difficulty in mituration).
