Dates are known as khajur in Marathi & Hindi &  kharjur in Sankrit.

Latin Name - Phoenix sylvestris

Family - Palmeae

Properties -

Rasa - Madhur ,Kashaya

Virya - Sheeta

Vipaka - Madhur

Guna -  Guru, Snigdha

Chemical Constituents -

Ca ,P, Vit. B & C

Medicinal Properties & USES -

1. It works as Vrushya ( Aphrodiasic).

2. It works as Bruhana ( nutritive tonic) so bruhana of all the rasadi dhatus occurs and thus helpful in Anaemia .

3. It works as Balya so provides strength to body.

4. It is a rich source of vitamin B & C.

5. It also provides calcium & phosphorus to body thus giving strength to your bones.

6. It works as a Hrudya due to its madhur guna and provides strength to your  heart muscles 

   ( Cardiotonic) so used in  Hrud-daurbalya. 

7. It improves Digestion.
