NIRGUNDI - USES IN OBGY

It is known as Nirgudi in Marathi , Samhalu in Hindi , Nirgundi in Hindi & Five leaved Chesh in English. 

Latin Name - Vitex negundo

Family - Verbenaceae

Properties -

Rasa - Tikta , Katu ,Kashaya

Virya - Ushna

Vipaka - Katu

Guna - Laghu, ruksha

Chemical Constituents - Carbonic acid , volatile oil

Parts Used - Leaves , roots , seeds 

USES -

🌱Aampachak so used in Sutika jwara (Puerperal fever).

🌱.Aartav-vaha srotas -

  As it has Ushna guna , it stimulates function of endometrium so used as Aartavjanana ( stimulates / increases formation of menstrual blood) so helps in Kashtartava ( Dysmenorrhoea).

🌱 Vata-Kaphaghna , Jwaraghna (Antipyretic) , Jantughn ( wormicidal) so used in Sutika Roga ( diseases in post-partum state).
