It is known as Gudvel in Marathi , Giloy in Hindi ,Guduchi in Sanskrit .
Latin Name - Tinospora cordifolia
Family - Menispermiaceae
Properties -
Rasa - Tikta , katu ,Kashay
Virya - Ushna
Vipaka - Madhur
Guna - Fresh - snigdha , mrudu
Dried - ruksha , laghu ,mrudu
Chemical Constituents -
Stem - Giloin , Berberine , volatile oil , Tinosporin , 0.48 - 1.2% starch
Leaves - beta sitesterol,octikesinol
Parts Used - Kand (stem) ,Patra (Leaves)
USES -
๐ฑ Vedanasthapan ( analgesic )
๐ฑ Pradara ( abnormal uterine discharge) -
it is used with cow milk.
Guduchi satva is used with lodhra qwatha .
๐ฑ Rasayan - used in generalised weakness , TB.
๐ฑ It is explained in Stanyashodhan gana by charakaacharya.
