SHALIPARNI - USES IN GYNAECOLOGY

It is Known as Salwan in Marathi , Sakhin in Hindi ,Shaliparni in Sanskrit .

It comes under Laghu Panchmoola.

Latin Name - Desmodium gangeticum

Family - Leguminoceae                                                      

Properties -

Rasa - Madhur ,Tikta

Virya - Sheeta

Vipaka - Madhur

Guna - Guru , Snigdha

Chemical Constituents -

Oil ,Ksharabh , Raal, Gangetinin ,Gangetin,desmodin.

Parts Used - Panchang

USES -

1.Due to Madhur , Snigdha & guru guna , it works as Vrushya , so it is used in Shukradaurbalya.

2.As it works as Tridoshghna , so helpful in Sutikaroga ( Diseases of puerperal women).

3.As it works as Mutral ( stimulates / increases production of urine) so helpful in Mutrakriccha 

 (Difficulty in Micturition).

 It relieves from daha ,Shoola ( Pain).

SARIVA - USES IN OBGY

 It is known as Upalsari in Marathi , Anantmool in Hindi , Sariva in Sanskrit & Indian sarasa parila in English.

It is of two types - shweta & Krishna.

Latin Name - Hemidesmus indicus

Family - Asclepiadaceae

                         

Properties -

Rasa - Madhur , Tikta

Virya - Sheeta

Vipaka - Madhur

Guna - Guru , Snigdha

Chemical Constituents -

 Volatile oil, Methoxy salicilic aldehyde , B-sitesterol ,Tetracyclin tri terpin , kitone , saponin.,etc

Parts Used - Roots 

USES -

๐ŸŒฑDue to tikta rasa, it purifies pittadushta stanya ( breast milk impurified due to pitta dosha)

๐ŸŒฑDue to Madhur , Snigdha & Sheeta guna , it increases Shukra and Oja ,so used in Shukradaurbalya.

๐ŸŒฑ As it works as Rakta prasadan & rakta stambhan properties , it is used in Pradara ( Abnormal vaginal discharges) ,Pittaj & Raktaj Yoniroga.

KAMPILLAK - USES IN GYNAECOLOGY

It is known as Kapila in Marathi, Kabila in Hindi , Kampilla ( Kampillak) in Sanskrit & Kamal tree in English.

Latin Name - Mallotus philipinensis

Family - Euphorbiaceae 

                    

Properties -

Rasa - Katu

Virya - Ushna

Vipaka - Katu

Guna - Laghu, ruksha ,Tikshna

Chemical Constituents -

Isorottlerin , Rotlerin, Homorotlerrin , volatile oil , tannin , citric & oxalic acid

Parts Used - Phala-raja

USES -

๐ŸŒฑ Garbhanirodhak -

    It is used Garbhanirodhak ( Contraceptive)

๐ŸŒฑ Vrana-Shodhan

๐ŸŒฑ Vrana-ropan.

๐ŸŒฑ It is useful in raktadushti janya vikara ( diseases caused due to impure blood).

Precautions -

if used in higher amount - causes Nausea.

SAIREYAK -USES IN GYNAECOLOGY

 It is known as Koranti in Marathi ,Katsarreiya in Hindi & Saireyak in Sanskrit .

It is of four types - shweta , rakta , neel , pita.

Latin Name - Barleria prionitis

Family - Acanthaceae

  

Properties -

Rasa - Tikta , Madhur

Virya - Ushna

Vipaka - Madhur

Guna - Laghu

Parts Used - Panchang , parna (leaves).

USES -

๐ŸŒฑ.It is used with jeerak churna in shukrameha , raktadushti.

๐ŸŒฑ.It works as Mutral ( stimulates/increases production of urine) so helpful in Mutrakriccha ( Difficulty in Micturition).

DOSE -

Swarasa - 10-20 ml

Kwatha - 40-80ml

PIPPALI-PIPPALIMOOLA - USES IN OBGY

It is known as Pimpali in Marathi , Pipal in Hindi , Pippali in Sanskrit & Long Pepper in English.

Latin Name - Piper longum

Family - Piperaceae

Properties -

๐ŸŒฟAARDRA -

Rasa - Madhur 

Virya - Sheeta

Vipaka - Madhur

Guna - Guru

๐ŸŒฟSHUSHKA -

Rasa - Katu

Virya - Anushna

Vipaka - Madhur

Guna - Laghu, snigdha , Tikshna

Chemical Constituents - Piperine , Piplartine

Parts Used - Fruit , roots

USES -

๐ŸŒฑVrushya & Rasayan -

Pippali works Vrushya ( Aphrodisiac) & Rasayana. It increases rasa , rakta & Shukra Dhatu.so used in Panduroga ( Anaemia) , Shukradaurbalya , rajorodha ( obstruction in menstrual blood flow).

๐ŸŒฑAartav-vaha Srotas -

Pippalmool works as Garbhashaya-sankochak ( causes uterine contractions).

Fruit - works as vrushya ( Aphrodisiac).

So useful in Rajorodha , Sakashta-prasava ( Difficult labour) & Shkradaurbalya.

๐ŸŒฑSutika roga & Makkal-shoola -

- Pippal moola churna + Honey works as Garbhashay sankochak (uterine contractor) so causes labour pains.

- For the Apareapatana (delivery of placenta) - pippal moola kwatha is used.

- Pippali-Pippalmool - works as Garbhashaya shodhan ( cleansing action of uterus) -  rakta - dushti Makkal shoola & sutika jwara.( puerperal fever).- pippali & pippalimoola churna is used with gud and warm water.

๐ŸŒฑ Pippali moola churna is used with gud( juggarry ) & warm water-

  • Patient in labour - for stimulating Labour pains.

  • Sutika - stravshodhna ( helping easy excretion of lochia).

  • Makkalshoola - in sutika caused due to dushta rakta.

  • Sutika roga caused due to dushta strava.( abnormal secretions).

๐ŸŒฑIt nourishes all dhatus & increases rasa , rakta & Shukra dhatu leading to nourishment of Updhatus.so , Updhatus of rasa i.e. stanya ( breast milk) & raja ( menstrual blood) also gets nourished.

Dose - Churna - 0.5 - 1 gm

PUNARNAVA - USES IN GYNAECOLOGY

It is known as Ghetuli in Marathi , Gadahpurana in Hindi ,

Punarnava in Hindi & Spreading Hogweed in English.

It occurs in two types - 1) Shwet 2) Rakta Punarnava

Latin Name - Boerhavia diffusa

Family - Nyctaginaceae

Properties -

Shweta -

Rasa - Katu ,Madhur,Tikta, Kashaya

Virya - Ushna

Vipaka - Katu

Guna - Laghu, Ruksha , Sara

Rakta -

Rasa - Tikta

Virya - Sheeta

Vipaka - Katu

Guna - Laghu

Chemical Constituents - Punarnavine

Parts Used - Moola ( roots), Beeja ( seeds) , Panchang 

USES -

1.Due to Tikta rasa , Sheeta virya & Aampachan & Shothaghna property, swarasa of roots of  rakta-punarnava is used in Raktapradara (Abnormal Uterine Bleeding).

   It helps to decrease Garbhashaya shotha ( oedema of uterus) , it helps in rakta pradara.

2.It increases quantity of urine , and helps in Shothaghna karya ,so useful in Mutrakriccha ( Difficulty in Micturition).

3.In Mutrakriccha - kwatha of Punarnava 20-30ml twice a day is used.

NIRGUNDI - USES IN OBGY

It is known as Nirgudi in Marathi , Samhalu in Hindi , Nirgundi in Hindi & Five leaved Chesh in English. 

Latin Name - Vitex negundo

Family - Verbenaceae

Properties -

Rasa - Tikta , Katu ,Kashaya

Virya - Ushna

Vipaka - Katu

Guna - Laghu, ruksha

Chemical Constituents - Carbonic acid , volatile oil

Parts Used - Leaves , roots , seeds 

USES -

๐ŸŒฑAampachak so used in Sutika jwara (Puerperal fever).

๐ŸŒฑ.Aartav-vaha srotas -

  As it has Ushna guna , it stimulates function of endometrium so used as Aartavjanana ( stimulates / increases formation of menstrual blood) so helps in Kashtartava ( Dysmenorrhoea).

๐ŸŒฑ Vata-Kaphaghna , Jwaraghna (Antipyretic) , Jantughn ( wormicidal) so used in Sutika Roga ( diseases in post-partum state).

AS PER AACHARYA SUSHRUTA , WHAT ARE THE FOUR IMPOATANT FACTORS FOR CONCEPTION ?

     As Now a days , many of the couples are seen waiting for their baby and trying to conceive for long time.

Aacharya Sushruta has explained the similarity between the important four things needed to grow a plant and a foetus.

Sushruta Aacharya describes these important things and their role to the respective growth.!!

1) RUTU -  

  

Aacharya Sushruta explained as a plant needs a proper season to grow similarly in Human body - rutu relates with the best season for the fertilization means the fertile period (said as rutukala in Ayurveda).

2) KSHETRA -

     

Kshetra  means the Land required for a plant to grow must be fertile then only it can grow easily.

In similarity to this .,for the baby the fertile place corelates with the Uterus.The healthy state of uterus plays important role for the easy Conception.

3) AMBU -

As ambu means the water .

As a plant needs water for it's growth as it's food.similarly in the same way , the Diet parents take is responsible for the formation of healthy beeja.so aahar- rasa in human is co-related with Ambu for plant.

4) BEEJ - 

                                                        

A plant needs seeding to grow, In the same way for the formation of a fetus , fertilization of a healthy  sperm & healthy  ovum are the most important things.

    As it works Raktasatambhan - 

    Used in Aatyartava (abnormal uterine bleeding), Pradar (abnormal vaginal discharge).

๐ŸŒฑNagkeshar Churna is used with Ghee for 2 times a day.

๐ŸŒฑMutravaha srotas -

  • Nagkeshar is used in  Mutradaha ( Burning micturiction) , Mutrakriccha ( Difficulty in Micturition), Haematuria.

  • It works as Mutral ( stimulates/ increases production of urine) in Mutraghata (obstruction in urinary system) by decreasing pitta.
